Smaller projects, built by the same team

Fencing, paving, courtyards and level changes across Preston and Lancashire.

Not every job needs a design

Sometimes you already know what you want. A fence that won't blow over in the first gale. A patio laid on a proper bed. A level change sorted out so the garden actually works.

We take those on as standalone projects — no design process, no drawings, just a fixed price and a start date. Same two-man team that builds the designed gardens, same materials, same attention to the parts that end up buried.

We're selective about what we take on. Two people can only be in one place at a time, and the way to keep the standard up is to not spread thin.

WHAT WE BUILD

The projects we take on

Fencing

Close board, feather edge, horizontal slatted and post-and-rail. Concrete-set posts, dug to depth

Patios and paving

Natural stone, porcelain and block. Full mortar bed, proper falls, drainage considered.

Steps, walls and levels

Retaining walls, terracing and steps — the work that makes a sloping garden usable.

Courtyards and small gardens

A complete small garden, built in one go. Usually a week or two on site.

Why us for a smaller job

Built the way the big ones are built

What fails is always underneath. Fencing fails because posts weren't set deep enough. Patios fail because they were spot-bedded on five dabs instead of a full bed. We don't cut either corner, and that's most of the difference ten years on.

One price, agreed before we start. You get a written fixed price, not a day rate that drifts. If we hit something unexpected underground we'll tell you before we carry on, not after.

No upselling. Come to us for a fence and you'll get a quote for a fence. We won't turn it into a pitch for a garden design.

What we don't take on

Where we're not the right fit

We take on projects, not upkeep. Our minimum is three days on site for two of us. Below that, the setup and travel cost more than the work is worth — for you as much as for us.

We don't do: weekly or fortnightly grass cutting, ongoing maintenance visits, hedge trimming on its own, tree surgery, or general odd jobs.

We're also selective beyond that. We'd rather turn a job down than take it on and do it at eighty percent, so if something isn't right for us we'll say so early. Ask and we'll usually point you at someone who'd do it well

TESTIMONIALS

What our clients say

We’re proud to builds that our clients love.

“Fantastic design and renders provided for a large eco-system pond project. The team seemed to go the extra mile and have a very good eye for detail. Will use again and definitely deserve 5 stars.”

Questions

Frequently asked questions

What's the smallest project you'll take on?

Three days on site for two of us. That covers a decent fence run, a small patio, or a border stripped and replanted.

Anything shorter and the setup and travel cost more than the work is worth — for you as much as for us. If you’ve got several things that need doing at once, though, we can often bundle them into one visit and it stacks up fine.

We’re also honest about fit. If a job would be better done by someone else, we’d rather tell you at the first phone call than six weeks in.

No. We take on projects with a start and a finish, not ongoing upkeep.

So no weekly grass cutting, no fortnightly visits, no hedge trimming on its own. We can clear and replant a border that’s got away from you as a one-off job — but we’re not the right people to keep it that way afterwards.

A ballpark, usually. Fencing we can estimate closely from a length and a photo. Paving depends on access, levels and what’s underneath, so that normally needs a look.

Either way you get a written fixed price before any work starts.

No. If you know what you want, we’ll price it and build it.

A design only earns its money when you’re reworking a whole garden, or when levels and drainage have to be resolved before anything else can happen. We’ll tell you honestly which of those you’re in — including when the answer is “you don’t need one”.

Within about [45 minutes] of Preston for build projects — Penwortham, Leyland, Chorley, Bamber Bridge, Longton, Lostock Hall, Walton-le-Dale and the villages around them.

Design work we travel further for, up to about ninety minutes.
Note: a tighter radius than the design pages is deliberate. An hour each way for a three-day job doesn’t pay.
